did I do slo motion right? Please help.

I think I followed how Barry describes it in his book:

I shot 60i at 1/120 shutter and then I captured it in fcp and then slowed it down 40% and dropped it into my 24pa timeline. Looks nice and slow and smooth but there is some blocking. Should I have deinterlaced it before slowing it down and putting it into the timeline.

Never deinterlace. Drop the footage into the timeline and right click then speed then 60%.

Also, experiment with and without Frame Blending turned on. I find some clips are just shot in a way that Frame Blending acts wierd with. Experiment with the deinterlace filter. Sometimes it helps, sometimes it doesn't. It depends on how much motion blur is in the original footage, how much motion, etc.
