Did anyone watch "Film School" on IFC?

Last night, Friday, September 10th, at 10:30pm EST, the Independent Film Channel (IFC) played this show called "Film School" which follows 4 students at NYU who are trying to make their own film and move on into the industry. I watched it, and thought it was pretty interesting.

One of the students was shooting their film with a DVX100, maybe 100A, not sure. The teacher was criticizing his work, and I wanted to smack that old man. Anyway, I'm wondering if anyone watched it? It's gonna be on every Friday now, at 10:30pm, and I think again at 1:30am EST on IFC, just to let you know, if anyone has that channel. :)

I'd have to say that IFC is my favorite channel. They play all these unknown, unheard of independent/foreign films, and also the widely known films like Pulp Fiction every once in a while. You really get to see these films that you would otherwise never see, or at least I woudn't. I like how there's no commercials, the films are unedited, and are shown in their correct aspect ratios, no pan and scan crap, and right now, they're coming up with some good shows, like "Film School", and "The Ultimate Film Fanatic" game show. Go IFC!

I should look into getting Digital Cable again just for this reason. Of course Band of Brothers 2 is coming so Ill need HBO and I am tired of not watching The Sopranos.

I just moved into a new house, and we had digital cable for a week before our regular cable got switched over, it was one of the greatest weeks of all time. Even though I was too busy moving to watch it, I knew it was there.

was that asian girl the DP for that session? probably her own DVX. she's pretty hot for a DP. how do i hire her? :P

Damn skippy! I totally forgot about that asian girl. I don't even remember her, I just remember that Italian dude trying to direct, and seeing the Panny.

I didn't know that the universities don't provide some of the fundings to get your film made.  At least NYU. I mean is that part of the learning process? to fund your own film and get it made or you fail?  almost seems unfair. the tuition aint exactly cheap. and how come they don't show these guys dealing with other classes? it's too unrealistic. :P
anyway, I applied to NYU once. ahem.

Yeah. To me, it looks like their film assignment is hard as ****! I'd **** my pants if I was a student there. I said "****" twice, whoops, make that thrice!

write a script. all the professors look at them as if they are the stupidest thing that's happened to filmmaking.

I saw the first episode. I still can't get my mind off that one girl who was completely obsessed with sex. Human sex, animal sex, puppet sex, mouse sex...strange, strange woman. I also dread having to watch that emotional girl that ended up crying on the FIRST episode. That must be some kind of record.

she was overly emotional. I don't think she'll make it. i don't think the guy with the bad temper will make it either.
so I'm wondering why all these people are trying to make important films...and if that's even what they want. why must award winning films always gotta be depressing?

I agree. The students' scripts are either depressing or profound/artistic wannabe type movies. And yes, that one girl with the sex dolls and everything, she's pretty weird. Anyway, we'll see how everything turns out!

Film school episode 2 is on now. I just got digital satellite. IFC is a great channel.
