Did anybody watch South Park last night?

South Park has been kind of hit-or-miss for the last five years or so, but when it hits, it hits well, and even when it misses, it's not even that bad per se, just not as memorable. What I've always liked about the show is that it actually kind of evolves every few seasons. They could only kill Kenny in every episode for so long before they stopped doing it. It's kind of weird going back and re-watching episodes from the first season and comparing it to the show presently. The running jokes, the topics, the characters all kind of change just a little bit when things start to get stale. And they've always called themselves out on their own cliches and stale running gags in a meta way before they move on all together. And the animation is downright impressive now.

Wlliam S. Burroughs nailed it: Hypocrisy is the American vice.

I was hesitant to come back to this thread tonight... because I didn't know how to convey the point I was trying to make... but I think some of us are on the same page now... and to answer the above statement... this was my point... it doesn't HAVE to be that way... and I don't think it's an american vice... I think it's a HUMAN vice.

Watch the cartman future boy episode... while it's off the wall and goofy as hell (and revolting at times) it's also (in my opinion) a pretty good commentary about WAR and what fuels it. Let's just leave THAT one at that... or else the thread will get shut down... but that's the whole point... they are saying things that nobody else apparently can.

they are saying things that nobody else apparently can.
There are tons of websites and quite a few video channels on YouTube that spell out unpleasant truths. How many people watch these channels? South Park packages things that people normally don't want to hear into a comedic wrapper for better digestion. This is indirect education. Or you can call it indirect propaganda, depends on where you stand.

And I totally agree with Wlliam S. Burroughs.

the episode wasnt their strongest. but still topical which is what the show strives on now. but it was seen the most which is good for south park staying on the air.
