Dialogue Sound

When some of my clips are louder than the others or more quiet in the voices of the actors. For example clip one -Master shot is very quiet, then we cut to a close up shot and the sound is way louder.

For me to adjust this so it all sounds right do I fix it with the Threshold or something else.

Re: Dialogue Sound

First thing you should try is to right-click on the audio clips, choose "Switches" and then check "Normalize."

Re: Dialogue Sound

Switch it to Normalize but leave the loop also or or unclick it and just have normalize on?

I don't understand.

Re: Dialogue Sound

Clicking "normalize" doesn't effect the "loop" or vice-versa.

Looping just means that if you expand the clip beyond its length it will repeat (which is a cool feature of Vegas).

Re: Dialogue Sound

Okay, it's just when I clicked on Normalize, I went back to the clip and checked the settings if Normalize was clicked on, I noticed that Loop was clicked on also, so I went on and unlicked all the loops.

But I guess that doesn't matter.

Do I need something like Sound Forge? or Noise Redecution to fix audio the right way. Cause playing with the Threshold clip by clip manually and going back to listen to if all the sound in each clip sound the same, is complicated.

Re: Dialogue Sound

Well, there are guys on this board who are much, much more adept at sound production than I am, but in my experience, Vegas has outstanding audio tools.

Re: Dialogue Sound

Nice.

Ya that's what I'm playing with right now. Searching the message boards, trying to read info on it etc. Fun fun fun stuff.

Hopefully I'll get it.
