device not available ?

Hello, i am trying to capture some footage from my Sony Z1 camera in to sony vegas pro 9 using the HDV capture.

It has worked fine for a year or so but today i connected a colleagues camera (canon xha1) first and captured some footage (worked fine) and now when i connect my z1 it comes up saying device not available.

I have gone into preferences then device and all i have as device type options is
none
AJA video device
and IEEE 1394/MPEG2-TS device

i click that but it still sez device not available
do any of you know what my problem is and how i might fix it ?
any help would be great

After powering off and on your computer, the problem remains? I have occasionally had problems with swapping IEEE1394/Firewire cameras, but powering off and on has always made the problems go away.

And you've doublechecked your camera's in the right mode? I've embarrassed myself more than once with a camera being in the wrong mode :)
 
I was able to fix it, it did have somthing to do with the camera mode, this was my first thought so i tried everything and it still wouldnt work. I got sick of it, left it for an hour, came back and did the same thing pretty much again and it worked fine.

Must of had somthing to do with the sequence i was doing it in.
