determining footages fps?

If someone gave you a tape to edit and they didn't know what fps the footage was shot in how would you determine this? Someone wants me to edit some footage, but they don't know what camcorder was used, what settings, etc. I was a low-end camcorder that most people would get at wal-mart if you know what I mean. Other than that I am clueless.

Thanks!

someone reminded me to take note if it was ntsc/pal and that would answer my question. lol, i should have thought of that! such an obvious answer....

thanks guys!

In any case, the frame rate should be displayed with the clip in the Properties window, or in the Media Manager. If it's not, you can select that column be displayed.

thanks for the info. i was wondering if there was a way to determine this before you selected what kind of project you were making. can the setting (24p, 60i, etc) be changed if i selected the wrong project format when i generate a new pp2.0 file?

thanks again!

No; once you've selected it for the project, you're stuck with it. This changed in 4.0, where you can create Sequences with independent settings.
