DeSqueeze and Center Punch for FF 4:3

Did some HVX shooting in both DV50 Squeezed and in 720p. Figured out that the footage shot for those projects would go well with another project whose format Needs to be Full Frame 4:3.

ok, no prob, well just convert the 16:9 clips and center crop em, or Center Punch them as i lovingly call it.... Shot the clips using the 4:3 guidelines in cam, so i know framing won't be an issue cause we kinda thought ahead on that one and figured it might come in handy to shoot that way. Which now we have a reason to utilize that footage.
So i try to export the clips in FCP 5.1.2 using the q - Time Conversion.

in the Size setting i made sure to check the Maintain Aspect Ratio by cropping.

Prob is that even tho it says its gonna crop it...it doesn't! Clip comes out looking 4:3 but tallsqueezed of course.

this is supposed to do what i want right?

EDIT:
Anyway i ended up dropping to a DV 4:3 sequence, and scaling up to 100% for the 720 footage, and 135% for the DV50 Squeezed. Exported from there DV/ NTSC using the conversion and evrything seems to look fine. Just not as easy an fast as exporting direct from the browser...
