Desperateley seeking BouJou Pro

Hi,

I'm new to this forum so first of all a big 'Hi' to everyone out there - nice forum.

Ok, so basically I am a student studying 3d and currently in my final year. At the beginning of the year I set myself the task of creating a transforming car that walks around in real footage - walking accross my desk. Simple enough eh?

Well I'm nearly there it's just That Everything needs to be completed by this thursday and and I'm having a really tough time with BouJou.

So far i've made a fully textured modeling 3ds max, used inverse kinematics to conect up the appendages and produced the first part of a walk animation:

I've shot my video and captured it as both uncompressed avi and a tga sequence.

I've opened up the tga sequence in BouJou and followed the tutorial to the letter and I've got what I think is a really good camera solve.

At this point I'm having problems with the finer points of my workflow. I'm importing the camera max script into 3dsmax and it seems to be fine. Next I set up the following settings in Max:

Rendering:

Then Rendering-> Environment:

Viewport background:

Then finally I click on Show Background inthe viewport settings and get this:

The problems:

In the above image the timescale starts at 1001/356 which seems wierd. It's also seems to be zoomed in on the video and the first frame appears to be from the end of the sequence :(

The video doesn't animate with the camera when I hit playback (not sure if it's supposed to though) and in none of the scenes do the point helpers seem to match with anything in the video background. Everything I've done in BouJou seems like a textbook example when compared to the tutorial. It just seems to be Max thats causing me problems

I'm also a bit lost on what the workflow is from here. Do I use the image background as just a guide for where to place my 3d robot in each frame. Then render out my 3d sequence and combine it with the video using software like after affects? Or is max going to take both the robot and the footage and output a video for me of the 3d and the footage combined? I wouldn't ask for so much info normally but tutorials for this subject are so rare.

I've included some links here for that files for this project if anyone who may be able to help would like to take a closer look:

Boujou Camera Export: Here

£ds Max robot: Here

Image Sequence files: Here

Vide of above files: Here

I would be soooo grateful to anyone who could help me with this - my degree depends on getting this done right and I would offer my first born to anyone who can help me get through this :)

Should be pretty straight forward,

(1) First find out what you exported frame rate is i.e. PAL/NTSC

then click on the time configuration inside max to set to correct rate,

(2) make sure that "animate background is checked under background viewport

(3) Under environment in max, check "use map" then place the bitmap (aka your video/ picture squence)

(3) make sure the first frame is also the first frame of the video,

if you have correctly set up the world cordinates and word orientation correctly in Boujou, then all you need to do is aligh the camera to the world scene to place the 3d geometry where you want them

(4) advanced tip, use matte/shadows planes to cath the shadows,

(5) use omni to try and micick the real world lighting setup

(6) to do it the pro way, render as seperate elements make environment a "green" colour so that you can key it, or just use the alpha masks.

(7) use any Compositing software,

(8) MAKE sure you learn how to match colour space and grain.

I'll have a crack at those files when I get some time.

P.S, the background will not "playback" when you hit play, but it should update as you move the frame bar.
