Desperate Need of DIY Light Setup -Help?

I need a Readers Digest version of how I can set myself up with a last minute light rig for a commercial shoot I am doing in 2 weeks. The only thing is I can't spend much money.(good luck right?) With some of the posts I have seen I think I could get something together but I am not sure which way to go. I am doing a commercial/ promo for an interior designer. 1 room shoot. Short interview involved also. Am I better off shooting during the day to help fill the room? I am way confused. All my DVX work so far has been using whatever light is available. I have not worked with a lighting setup. I know I need to do more homework, but I was wondering if someone would like to give me some pointers and give me a fighting chance.

thanx

FIrst off, go to the bookstore (even if it's a barnes and noble...yeccch) and get John Jackman's Lighting for Digital Video and Television.  He explains all the basics, including putting together a low cost light kit, and doing interviews.

Second (or first), go to Walter Graff's website where he has some tips and discusses his kit:

Third, peruse the lighting forum and read, read, read.  Two weeks is a long time if you use it right.  All the info is there.

i liked john jackman's book also.

you can learn a lot by combing through site of lighting manufacturers. try and get past the marketing bs and just look at how they do the setups.you start to notice a pattern.

if you are on a budget, think hard before you buy a kit. there may be things in a kit that you don't need.

this is free: good fundamental info. no matter what lights you use.
