Desks, let's see yours!

Hi all! I'm buying a truck load of new gear and am setting up a new office for me to edit within my home, the only catch is that I can't find a desk that will suite my needs and look nice in my office. If any of you are willing to toss up some pictures of your desks/set-ups I'd love to check them out... also if anyone knows of any good places to buy desks specifically for this kind of work it would be great if you could post a URL

Thanks guys and gals!

Update;
FYI I'm looking for something BIG that can hold 2 20" monitors, large speakers, 4 computers (2 Mac, 2 PC), file storage, adjustable keyboard/mouse section and rack mount capabilities for outboard gear.

You should build one. It will be cheaper and totally customized for your needs. Think ahead, too, so it will grow with you. Know anyone who has tools?

That's actually exactly what I'm looking to do, I just want to see as many desks out there so I can pick and choose the features I like best and include them in mine. I'm a wood working machine so I can make just about anything so I'm going to build this one to be something amazing... just need some inspiration if you know what I mean? :-)

What's nice about it is that it fits my two monitors, a printer, a scanner, and I still have space to make it pretty messy. The legroom is decent, but I hit my legs on the keyboard pullout a couple times a week.

My friend has his styled after walter Murch. he stands up to do the editing. i have thought about that as well. My only problem would be getting thr keyborard situated correctly so that i do not get carpel tunnel. my wrists get numb after alot of typing.

Standing up is interesting. I fel more active. of course it may be a long time to stand. Just thought i woul throw that out as an alternative.

He stands up to edit???? Why would you want to do that?!

I used to draw/write on one of those humungous drafting tables. There was a high stool for it, but I could also work standing up, which I often did. Why would you want to stand? It keeps the juices flowing. Yes, "juices flowing" is a scientific term. I think I'd prefer to have a standup desk, but they're hard to find ready-made. My friend edits on one, but he has a friend who can build things.

This was cut to fit what use to be a bay window.
It looks nice, has enough room for tapes and discs for projects, is ergonomcly sound and cost a third of what tbcconsoles and other companies would charge.
It's custom fit saves alot of room in the suite as well.

Its an energy thing. I used to do a lot of phone sales and standing up always helped my sales because i was more active. not to mention you breathe better etc. Im not sure i can tell you in real words what this does but i can tell you that it does seem to help. You may want to read Walter Murchs books. he talks about it a little but none the less he is an acclaimed editor and he may have some useful editing information

I got this from IKEA Office division about 5 years ago. The side panels come in different lengths fro 24" up to 72". There is box steel construction underneath along the length of each side. Giving uninterrupted leg room.

Built like tank, cheap like borscht!

Cheers

i got an old cafeteria table from the school i work at. 6 feet, real simple. The my dad raised it abotu an inch, build a shelf beneath it for the CPU, and cut holes in the back for cables. Works great! I then use a seperate table to make an L where i keep my camera, mixer, scanner, printer, magazines, and the drawers are full of tapes.

The box the TV is sitting on used to be mounted underneath the desk as an enclosure for a CPU. The huge computer enclosure I have wouldn't fit in it so I took it off, mounted a lazy susan to the bottom and use it as a platform for the TV.
