Random question but that's what this forum is for. I need a new desk. I still move around, so solid wood is out. Not only would it be a pain to move, I'd hate to scratch and damage an investment.

So...

Is Medium-Density Fiberboard (MDF) construction another name for Laminate construction? Or are they two different things? Do either of them feature veneers?

Please educate me.

Thanks!

They are not the same. MDF is particle board. Laminate construction is usually plywood. My desk is MDF with a formica type veneer (also called a laminate). Laminate construction refers to it being made from layers. But you can add a "layer" by adding a laminate top.

Both can have veneers.
