0 / 4 film fests...

I didn't even make it in as a student project on one.... what a slap in the face...

Don't fret my friend, festivals basically suck. I too, do not know what they expect anymore, being in many myself. Maybe if you shot a flower growing with some classical music behind it, it would get in and win! Artsy fartsy....Keep on trying! By the way, was it a horror film? If so, get it into a horror fest.

I am just bitter. I still have to send it out to more festivals, but it still feels like a kick in the nuts.

I sent to these fests:

Toronto International (No chance in hell.. but I knew that)
Calgary International (decent chance)
Rebelfest (moderately decent chance)
Chicago Internation Film Fest (I figured as student production... I would have a much much better chance... go figure)

this is the film:

it isn't a horror, it is a character film, a dramatic piece of fiction.. I dunno if I would call it a "thriller" but it could be that in some instances..

Don't sweat festivals. I entered my local one three times before I even made it in. Once I did, I won my catagory.

My local festival has a nice feature where even if you don't get into the festival they'll critique your film.

The things they didn't like were really minor.

Now, if I get in great, if not, it's not a refelction of you or your film, it's just what the people who are judging it like.

Had some friends who had an awesome film. It was great. Didn't make it into the local festival. During the critique session one of the judges told them that during the car crash scene she was imagining the filmmakers being in the car and dieing so that they would never make another film again.

Now what the h3ll is up with that? I have a copy of the film on DVD and it's on my play list all the time.

They don't have their trailer up anymore but info on the movie is here.
