Demo Test 100% Photoshop Color Corection

Hi,
Here it´s my test of CC using the CS3.
Workflow:
FCP export as TIFF secvence 8bit 1440x1080
In Photoshop i extract 1 frame from every master scene and establishing a CC value with Action function.
Later on, this actions, are used for the all scenes.

The main purpose of the test it was to work in a ¨Non destructive way¨ and see the 16bit advantages in real world, with no lighting at all and to generate an ¨organic¨ texture.
The material and the CC it´s nothing to blow you away but the posilities on a 16bit TIFF platform are huge.
All the artificial DoF and selective ilumination it´s done with photoshop.

All the best

Very cool. Batch processing when you can do it with this kind of control kicks ass.

I go head to head sometimes with hardcore After Effects users who insist for CC and Grading, you can do anything in AE you can in Photoshop. I've never found that to be the case, Photoshop's tools are much more robust. I love using AE for post work and use it as much as possible, but there are simply some things Photoshop will be better at.

Fantastic job with the glows and rack focus type effects. Maybe you can go into a little more detail about your workflow and methodology?

Great work!

I would love to hear more about the work flow of this project as well. Incredible job.

Nice work. I agree with Matt: Photoshop is more robust, but can offer a level of finesse that's harder to achieve in AE.

Same here. I'd be really interested in how you did all the DoF effects. That is something you really can't do in Magic Bullet or an NLE.

Also, what is better about doing a standard color correction in PS than in say, FCP, Premiere, and using something like Color Finesse, Magic Bullet, or Color for the more stylized color grading? I understand that certain things like an artificial DoF are not things that can be done in the above mentioned apps. Is it the 16bit capability mentioned previously that PS has over the others?
