Hi Guyz;

I'm lookin to build a demo reel for the Compositing area (due to a job offer).
But the thing is that I have only projects for motion graphics to make a demo reel.

Isn't it bad to mix mograph with compositing wen u r makin a reel for showing your Compositing power?

I dont have much idea for projects relating to compositing.
Does it need the help of 3d applz wen u dont hav enough Chroma footage?

Please tell me where to find some Compositing reels or where to find free footage for chroma to use in my Compo-reel.

I kindly request your helpful replies and ideas to make a better Compo-reel:).

Well, if you want a compign job, send them a comping reel. Chroma key isn't the only thing you need to showcase, usually good roto work, set extensions/replacements, wire/rig removals, clean plate generation, matchmoving, stuff like that will help...don't get stuck on one thing if you want a general compositing job. If they want to hire you specifically for roto, then send them a roto reel. Mograph won't really help you.

We've had graphic artists try to apply for a job at our company, and here is the number one thing that most do wrong:

Don't show the effects TOO fast. While you think we want to be compelled by a fast edit, DON'T. Instead show before and after shots for everything, and videotape yourself explaining how fast you came up with a solution for what the director wanted you to do.

Still try to keep it under 3 minutes, so be concise and just show a good difference between what you did.

Don't get technical, someone reviewing it may not be techinical, just show that you are a good team player, and that you are smart about creating solutions with alerady existing software.

Well Thanks for the tips guys.
It is really getting me to start!

Does anyone know any sites where to find free music which I can put for my demo?

Please let me know.

Again, THANX!!!!

I wouldnt put the breakdown in the reel. Include a hardcopy shot breakdown
that explains what you did for the shot.

You can also use any music you want, but be forewarned that LOTS of places screen reels with the sound off. Hehe, we used to watch em on a really bad studio monitor with no sound and we'd screen em on Fast Forward until something caught our eye.
