hello... I would want to buy a monitor lcd in order to work in HD... I wanted to know if 24"are better dell or apple 23"? thanks and sorry for my english!

I use the Dell 24" and love it. I bought it used from a fellow DVXuser and it has worked great. I don't think the price difference is worth it for the Apple, and I say that as a quad and macbook pro owner.

I have a 23" Cinema Display. The 23" size is notoriously problematic for some reason. The other two sizes (20" and 30") are apparently far better. I've had some problems with mine, and had to get a replacement at one point.

Don't forget - the Dell 2405FPW ships with some useful amenities, including a four-port USB hub—two on the main connector panel, two on the side of the display. In addition, the unit has a 6-in-1 USB card reader that supports CompactFlash (type I and II), SD/mini-SD card, Sony Memory Stick / MS Pro, Smart Media and Hitachi Microdrive.

The SD Memory card reader is quite usefull with my HVX.

As an absolute Mac fanatic (since 1986), I have to say... I love my Dell 2405 -- as a computer monitor. But it's not a great video monitor. However, you can certainly get buy with it for video using Desktop Cinema Display in Final Cut. It's just not ideal.

Apple displays are absolutely incredible, although my friend who works at Best Buy tells me that the new Dells use the same exact technology...

But on this one, definitely go for the Apple. They just cut their prices down several hundred dollars an hour ago @ WWDC. Check out apple.com/store.

No. Forget about the apple. I run a lab that has 30 apple monitors, at home I have two dells. I got each one for 795 and the picture is much better than the apples.

Dell and the Apple's use the same shiet...

If you're going for cost efficiency it's probably better to buy Dell's.

This is coming from a person who's working on a 23" Cinema HD and a 20" Cinema.

THough the 30" always looks pretty when I get a chance to sit in front of it in the other office.

I would still buy two 24" Dell's, though.

Both companies use the same LCD screens. Dell gives you more features and connectivity for less money. Apple gives you the sleak Apple look and better cable management, but you pay for it.
