Dell Dimension 3000 for Vegas?

Re: Dell Dimension 3000 for Vegas?

Anything running Windows XP will run Vegas, though you're better off with a Pentium 4 and as much memory as you can get.

Re: Dell Dimension 3000 for Vegas?

It should work fine but it's not going to be the smoking machine. What is your budget? (The 3000's are running around $539 to $789) And what level of usage will you require? Render times are going to be brutal.

Re: Dell Dimension 3000 for Vegas?

The beauty of Vegas is that it'll run well on just about anything. Though, as John said, render times can be a *****. That part of it doesn't bother me, though. I set it up to render and then go get some lunch.

You do know that adds to the time, right . . . ? :o

Re: Dell Dimension 3000 for Vegas?

Ya, but seconds to the minutes as far as I can tell. The new comp (Dell Prec Pent XEON) is superfast. I have no complaints. :)

Re: Dell Dimension 3000 for Vegas?

Nice.

It's fast. I like it compared to my stolen Dell P4 (You have to get the Gig of Ram though) :P

Re: Dell Dimension 3000 for Vegas?

I'm building it myself. I already have a gig and half; I'll probably get another 512 or 1GB stick.

Re: Dell Dimension 3000 for Vegas?

we're about to get our second dual xeon here, and I'm working on a request for a v-lan to allow network rendering in my edit room. If we finally get our testing system in addition, I'll have a 2 gig dual 2.4, a 4 gig dual 3.2 and a single 1 gig 2.8 available for rendering.

Talk about overkill~! Anyone wanna outsource some rendering? :P
