I am planning on picking up a monitor for my mac pro preferably the dell 2407. I just wanted to know a few things first. One being does it need alot of cables for setup. Or is it like the apple cd with just one cable going to the computer. Also how have your experiences been with it?
 
one more question I forgot to add. Would you prefer the Dell 2407 or the dell 30inch true color. I edit both HD and SD so I dont know if I would prefer another 6inches and loose the hd. Not sure which is better for editing HD or True colors
 
well, with the 22" you wouldn't be able to view 1080 material at full res and the color would be much worse. Are you viewing your material with a broadcast monitor on top of your LCDs or will you be doing everything on these screens?
 
everything will be done on the screens for a few months till I can afford a broadcast monitor. It looks exactly the same as the dell 2407 spec wise except -2 inches and + $300

There are some people ridding themselves of excellent SONY broadcastmonitors these days (CRTs). With some luck you MAY get one second- or thirdhand in this pricerange, BUT you'll need an (HD)-SDI card to have any fun with it.
