Deleting source footage to make some room

Im wondering if anyone has a workflow that will allow me to view mxf files and delete them. I will eventually need to do the same thing to MP4 files. I am attempting to archive some footage and fit it all on blu ray disks for storage. I need to be able to delete the source of some of the useless footage we have. At the moment, i have been reading the metadata to locate the file in explorer and then just deleting the video, leaving the sound. does anyone know how i can just click and delete from within premiere both the picture and sound?

I'm having the same challenges. Am I just missing something, or is this the BIG downside with filebased workflows compared to tape based material where you log and transfer, leaving out out the unwanted material, only occupying your disk space with the material you want..

I both miss a way to trim P2 files (being able to just ingest parts of a p2 clip), and as mentioned by john keating earlier, an easy way to delete clips in general.

Am I missing something? Any feedback apreaciated!

You can Unlink the footage and choose to delete the media from the disk. The deletation is permanent and Ctrl+Z wont bring the footage back if you change your mind.

However, this is a really bad workflow though since some editing applications *refuse* to import the footage if some files are missing from the card/folder structure. I would never ever recommend anyone to do this. Buy HDD's and store the footage there. :)

I have not tried the Project Manager to trim footage with P2 media but my gut feeling tells me that it wont work because of the abowe reason.
