Delayed playback w/ spacebar--any ideas?

After reinstalling FCS2 everything seems to be working fine except now when i hit the spacebar as a shortcut for playing footage in the canvas there is a significant delay in playback. Same thing happens when i hit it again to stop playback. This doesn't happen when i click the play button in the canvas window. Has this happened to anyone? Any ideas on how to fix it?

I'd try trashing your preferences file- that might do the trick.

I tried trashing prefs but it didn't do the trick. Any other ideas?
