Degree of image change with 35mm adapter

Hi all,

I've got a question about the degree of change in the overall image with a 35mm adapter on and off the camera.

I'll be shooting a feature this summer with my XHA1 and Letus 35 Extreme. Since I don't have much of a budget, I'll be working mostly with available light. About a third of the scenes will be night exteriors, and with the Letus on the camera, I know it'll be almost impossible to get adequate exposure in low light.

So, what I'm thinking is...

To keep the adapter on the camera for the shots where I can safely use it to capture better images (sufficient light, sharp focus needed etc.), and to take it off and use the XHA1 native lens for the shots where it'd be safer not to use it (insufficient light, tough follow focus etc.).

However, I'm concerned that if I use the adapter for some shots, and the native lens for others, the finished film won't be seamless and the final cut will look like Jackson Pollock.

E.g. Will the difference in the image be big enough, that the audience, watching the film on a blown up screen, will be able to tell in which shots the adapter was used, and which shots it wasn't?

I'm aware that the inherent quality of the image will change with the difference in DOF and all, but I'm interested in knowing HOW MUCH it will change and whether or not it'll be noticeable. I'll be doing a lot of color correction in post, so I'm hoping that'll help to hide the difference in image quality and make it more seamless?

Feel free to shed some light if you have any thoughts. Cheers!

Thanks for the link Mike, but I've already gone through all of Bloom's Letus videos. They're quite helpful as he gives a lot of examples of what the Letus is capable of doing. I guess the answer I'm after though, is will the finished project flow seamlessly from shot to shot even though some shots will have been taken with the adapter, and others without. Will someone in the audience be able to notice that some of the shots look different from others, or will the difference be negligible? Of course the DOF is going to change, but I'm wondering more about the degree to which the color, the softness and the overall 'feel' of the image will change.

If the difference in image quality will be significantly noticeable, how can I go about 'hiding' it to make it more seamless? I mentioned that I'll be doing a lot of color correction in post (with Magic Bullet), and possibly use some other video filters (on FCP) to help blend the images. Any other ideas such as in-camera settings (XHA1) or things I can do in post that may help? Cheers.
