Deferred Union Scale?

Hello!

I have recently agreed to do a show on a "Deferred Union Scale". I'm not entirely sure what that means.
The show has some relatively big names on it, and seems pretty legit. I'm doing it for experience more than anything. However, they told me pay was on a deferred union scale basis.

Does this mean if/when the show makes money, then I get paid as if it were union? That's a pretty big if, seeing as it would be something like 6000$!

Thanks a lot!

That is a first for me. I have heard of deferred pay and union pay, but never at the same time. I would be leery of this, as they may have a higher estimation of the project's actual potential, and they said that to get more people to bite.

you never know sounds like Canadian Financing to me. Could have deals in place and are partially dependent on Tax credits but can't get Bank to interim.

I'm more honest, no pay, don't expect any money now or in the future. If I'm lucky enough to sell I'll put more into the next one.

Yeah. As someone who's been on the other side of the deferred payment, I know not to expect to be paid. Was just curious as I've never heard the term.

I think it's a play on words, that seemed to work:)

As the above posters stated, deferred means no pay, most people know this, so I'm guessing they tried to make it sound a little better, more legit. But i'm guessing if you called a union rep, they would say ne such thing. And if it's union you get paid.

All it means is that teh "big name's" agent knows how to negotiate better then you do as the "big name" is walking away with a hefty chunk of change while you walk away with nothing.
