Default quicktime web page's... how??

Quick question hopefully:

How does everyone make what seems to be a default web page to showcase quicktime movies. Just a blank page with a greyish background, and the quicktime movie centered.

I see that page a LOT, so I'm assuming it's a easy make?

I'm on a mac, by the way, with plenty of webpage software, but the quicker the better.

Here's an example of the page in question, *stolen* from DVXuser Steven Bogda:

word.

i just upload the file to my website. basically i don't even create a page, it's just a straight upload.

Sorry for the dumbassness, but then what's the URL?? how do you direct to it?

and yes, I said dumbassness ;) I'm HTML illiterate.

The centered clip w/ grey background is a feature of the latest version of safari actually. Firefox will get you a light grey bg and IE and Opera will give you a white background, they are all centered though.

If you want it to work with all browsers you can do some CSS trickery with vertical centering but there's no perfect method to doing it yet.

Thanks... so... let me get this straight.

I have my QT file on my HD> upload it to my "public" folder in fetch (thats what I use)?> and then how do I find it online?

I usually go through golive, make a page, link it to my movie, upload the page and movie. I'm just trying to find a more time efficient way to get something up and running...

I don't know what fetch is, but pretty much all you need is some sort of host online if it's your .mac account or a .com site of your own hosted somewhere. Either way you need access to some public webserver... from there it's just uploading your file to that public space (usually via ftp).

I don't know what you up to via golive, if it's a public location or not so it's hard to say.

I get it... yeah, I have a host and everything, I'm just not very savvy with these things, but I understand now.

thanks gents.

Ok, I've got the file uploaded, and I can find the page... BUT:

I'm not getting a controller, and it's not streaming. It just wants to wait until it's fully downloaded before it'll play (and it's a large file).

I'm assuming I need to fix this during the compression stage??

I'm using "compressor"... any ideas?

What you need is defnitely accomplished in the compressing phase. I'm not sure which NLE you're using to let you know what to select, but it's not a web related issue.
