Deep focus possible?

Can you obtain somewhat of a deep focus with an adapter?
Such as being able to follow someone walking thru a house or office without having to pull focus t he whole time and having say anything from a foot to ten feet away in focus?

Im guessing a wide lens would help more in this situation?

You can always stop down...But you will need to light acordingl

Exactly, lighting will be a huge factor indoors with an adapter, especially if you want a deep DOF, because adapters are so light-hungry as is, stepping down to achieve more DOF is not going to be very light friendly at all. So just make sure you have enough light to be able to step down.

thanks thats what i was thinking. i dont own an adapter but was just curious on the subject because most of the video examples represent the shallow DOF that they are made for.

You can expect (with CF1Le) light loss to remain under 1 full stop with our flip at 35m apertures up to f5.6. Combine this with a lens in the 28mm to 35mm range and you'll find infinity focus beyond 6-10 feet. This is a good way to maintain the adapter "look" while making focus manageable in moving situations etc.

It's easier to do that on a spinning ground glass.... but on my Letus I just use a wider lens and there's no problem.. as Dennis said.

I like to keep glass on for the whole project rather than take off an adapter if I want a lot of DOF.... I'll jump between a 28 and a 35.

Usually a 35mm does the trick if the subjects don't get too close.

Thanks Dennis & THX thats what i was hoping as I wanted to keep the "look" thru out with out taking off the adapter.
