Dedolight -- not sure exactly how to power them

Are you supposed to plug them into the single power supply, then plug the power supply into an electrical outlet? Or do you just plug them into the power supply and have to charge the power supply later somehow?

I can understand if you can plug the power supply into an outlet, but it won't work if that's not possible.

Also, are the power cords of various length? What if you set up 4 lights in a biggish room? Is it an issue if some of your lights are far away from the power supply or can you simply use extension cords or something.

I ask this because I like the idea of the portability and durability of the dedolights, but this power supply issue concerns me.

You can plug multiple units into one transformer or one per transformer. yes you can get longer cords for them. dedos are great lights but have limited uses and are VERY expensive. If you are not a great lighter, you would do better with fixtures other than Dedos.

The transformer needs to be plugged in.  It's not a battery/power source by itself. They have extentions available, but are dedicated Dedo lite cables, a regular power cord will only let you move the transformer to a central location. you need the Dedolite extentions to spread your lights out.
