Dedolight DLH4 (4-light kit) good for chromakey/greenscreen work???

I've been reading excellent reviews about the Dedolight DLH4 and first considered purchasing 1 Dedolight. But I'm now considering a Dedo 4-light kit for interviews, especially with traveling in mind.

But I'd like to know if a 4-light Dedolight kit would also be good to light green screen / chroma key. If I get the 4 light dedo kit, could I not use two Dedolights to light the green screen and two to light the talent?

I currently have a 1x1 5600K Litepanels, and 2 miniplus litepanels (spot and flood) that are not strong enough to light a green screen.

Thanks in advance for any help/advice.

You could light a green screen with dedo lights, but they're really not the right thing to use. They're just not soft enough. You could of course keep a few 2x3 frames on hand to throw in front of them, but they're such pricey lights it seems sort of silly to buy them if you don't really need them.

A few divas or 2x4 kino's might be the better answer. Even if you got another litepanel that could work.

How big of a green screen do you want to light?

Hi RyanT,

Thanks very much for your reply. That was really helpful. My green screen is quite modest in size, I believe 5'x7'. Just enough to fit one person for interviews.

What about the Ikan 500 kit, would that cover me better for lighting a green screen interview? The Ikan 500 is great because you get 3 lights for the price of one Litepanels 1x1, but they're a lot heavier.

I have the Ikan kit and like it a lot for interviews. But the output of the lights is fairly low. You could cover a subject and a screen only if it's quite a tight and small environment.
