Hi, doing some documentary work and wondered if anyone could recommend some decent lav mics to go for please. Also, wireless or not? Budget preference is low but will increase if it is a must. Thanks
Please check the archives (via the search option above). This has been covered numerous times. There are discussions on "best" lavs, as well as a/b comparisons of some lavs.
Not sure if you're kidding or not, but this is the audio forum, and generally speaking (speaking for myself anyway), tripods are generally not used to gather or record sound. There is probably a better forum for this question.
(Manfrotto with a fluid head of some sort is considered good). ;-)
If budget is low, I'd stay away from wireless. If "doing documentary work" means sit down interviews, then definitely go wired. If it means trying to capture action as it occurs, then you're either going to want a bunch of wireless (don't do this) or get a good boom pole setup.
Countryman B6 is a nice lav. There are others (Tram, Sanken, Sony, DPA...).
Thanks for the replies, I actually did a search for lav mics before posting the thread and it came up with zero threads, however I now realise I should have done a search for lavalier mics which brings up many threads. A bit strange, usually a shorter description brings up more?!?
