You can also get the Impact 8' and 9.5' stands for under $40 at B&H. I have a pair of the 9.5' stands that I've used about a dozen times. They're nothing special, but they are light and they get the job done.
How much weight do you need to support at the top of it? That's always a relevant question. I assume since you're asking about cheap ones that you're using a pretty small fixture at the top.
Impact at B&H. I have about a dozen of them (black), some going to 13 feet. Depending on what you're putting on top, you may also need some saddle/weight bags. (Don't go above 8' without something to keep the stand from falling over if someone bumps it.) B&H has a saddle bag made by Photoflex that you fill with water, which makes it easier to take on location. For a couple of bucks more they have cordura bags that can take a lot of sand. I bought a couple of bags of large lead shot (for reloading), divided them among several Ziploc bags (double bagged 'cause I didn't want to have to clean up), and put those in the cordura bags (which are meant to be filled with sand and sewn shut). I use velcro to close the saddlebags. If you go on location with this you need a "mule" to carry the bags!
