Death to reality TV!

 I absolutely detest reality TV - Die already!

I'm sorry if some of you work on reality TV shows, but enough already...

Half of programming now is reality. Fat people losing weight, nerds with hot chicks, swapping moms, marry a rich dude, marry a fake rich dude, 40 desperate people lining up to meet someone on national TV, singing and dancing and model contest.... stars skating or dancing ... Washed up stars hanging around the living room - Non stars hanging around the living room... blah, blah, blah :thumbdown :thumbdown

When will this madness end? Bring back good, quality programs...

OK - Rant over

I concur Dakota

I despise it. My wife watches this crap (not religiously; she's more a reader than a t.v. person) and I cringe when I walk into room.

I love Survivor; still find it fun (The challenges) but the rest; datinmg, wives, husbands, millionaires, make-over's, singing stars created, audtioning for INXS, swapping wives.....................................................

Tell me it will go away one day ?

cause we're all whores, there's a sucker born every minute,we just wanna see people lose,we just wanna see people make fools of themselves because we didn't get on the show, i don't know why these a!@#$$ are on. thats why i watch cable. which reminds me you ever watch WILD BOYS ON MTV man they are funny and i like JEFF CORRIN on discovery channel jeesh the last of the IRISH CREAM bailys is finally gone, no wonder i'm ranting

oh by the way John i got served by this waiter and he had an impersonation of CHRIS WALKEN that blew everyone away. if you are in santa monica he's at Il Forno restraunte

I'd love to see that impression!

I looove Corwin; anything related to nature. I don't mind anything that has educational value; but the reality of a bunch of monkey's living in a volkswagen is beyond me. And they pick this people specifically to clash with each other:"

The gay dude, the black dude, the white straighlacer or hippy dude, the sexpot, the older woman, the tough guy, the fat guy..................

Aye Yae Yae

I can't stand "reality" TV. It's all just a bunch of wannabe actors hoping they'll be "discovered."

I actually enjoy some reality entertainment For example.
First 48
Real World(I was sick for a week and stuck in the bed and there was a marathon on)
Apprentice & Martha Stewarts Apprentice
Run's House ( This guy is hilarious )

I do however hate:
Joe millionare
Flavor of love and all the other date me for money shows

I've always thought reality TV is just a few steps away from building a colusseum and watching people get ripped to shreds by lions. That's my prediction for NBC's fall line up.

I agree.
The only difference is that now people are eagerly stepping up to get eaten by lions.

I totally agree with you on this statement. For some reason there is always a Gay guy or gal then they put someone who is extremely homophobic. They also put a black guy then some guy or gal that has never met a black person in their life. Now that good tv

It's not any different that what we do in movies - they are just trying to create the most dramatic situations.
Many movies do the same things you just mentioned -

Boy's Don't Cry was nominated for an Oscar, so was Guess Who's Coming to Dinner.

Of course reality TV is set up... who would want to see a bunch of people getting along?
That's not drama.

Of course the difference is, now we're doing it with real people - not characters.
But can we really call it exploitation or unethical when the participants are not only willing but EAGER to be a part of it?

what about shows like project greenlight and project runway. i dont seem to mind them as much.

i remember watching MTV at the begining in the 80s.. how amazing it was.. what the hell happened?

I don't really count that - More of a serial documentary. Although they edited last season to enhance the drama a bit too much. I might be bias because I like it....

the new flava flave show on VH1 is too much... i like flava though. but i can help but think that the producers are making fun of him. hopefully he takes them to the bank for it.

i hate them all...

they make these stupid shows because it's easy for these non-creative writers to say: "hey lets get 10 very different, strong willed, emotionally challenged, passionate and off balanced people, some ugly and some good looking, and film them doing things/nothing."

It's much more effort to earn their money writing a show that will captivate an audience and hold them for a season.

That's the biggest problem. Millions of people falling over themselves to get on these stupid shows so a free cast is a given. Production costs are bare minimum. Why take a chance producing a comedy or drama series that costs millions when you can throw a couple dozens retards in a room and watch them react....
