dealing with timecode breaks

my first six hours of tape all have multiple timecode breaks...when I capture now with FCP it registers each break as a new clip (not a bad thing on one hand but...) Is there a way to override this and truly capture now without the timecode breaks in a new continous timecode (almost like dubbing the timecode broken tapes to new tapes for a new timecode?)

is there a function or setting on the dvx that I'm missing--I want to avoid this problem in the future (I tried using the rec check button but in 24p it still resets the frame in the new clips to either 0 or 5 which always causes a timecode break anyway)

thanks a lot.

This was answered elsewhere (setting prefs not to break on capture) although you run a risk becuase FCP is usign tiemcode info to help keep track of your footage. If you have multipel clips with the same timecode or have a clip that starts with a later tiem than it ends with things can get odd.

Note that it's supposed to go to frame 0 or 5 since that's when the cadence starts. If you manually set time code you're supposed to set it that way. The DVX is laying down 2:3:3:2 to tape which means there's a 5 frame cycle. If you just start in the middle the camera and possibly the editing software will get confuse4d since it has no reference.

thanks....in FCP 5, under user preferences the only choices are to set time code break to new clip, abort, or to warn after capture (even this setting does not allow the capture to be successful--its warns before capturing the break and NOT after as it promises. I did look extensively at the threads and cound not find a definitive answer. where do I choose this not to break on capture?
