Dealing with Bad Lighting

I've got footage I am editing on Pro 1.5. Unfortunately when they shot the footage the lighting is much too hot in one setup, so it doesn't match the footage in the rest of the scene. Basically a light is reflecting really hot off of one subject's forhead. Since I'm relatively new to Premiere, I was curious to find out if anyone knew of any tricks to dull out the lighting on the subject's forhead while preserving the rest of the contrast in the frame?

Hi Rob.
You should be able to fix this problem using the "Color Match" effect. Select your clip, click on the Effects tab and look for it under the Image Control category. You want to drag the effect onto your clip, then adjust its settings under Effect Controls. It is here that you can take a sample of the way your footage looks during a "good" setup and use that to affect change in the "bad" setup. Let us know if you need any additional help.

Good luck.

man, good luck on trying to get rid of hotspots. You can match color and other things but to take out hot spots can be difficult. You can tweak levels and curves but usually there's really not a whole lot you can do about it. The best thing to do is not to make that mistake again when shooting. Have your zebras on or keep a careful eye on your shots to make sure you exposure is just right. I had similar probelms and I've tried everything thing from masking, tracking but it was just too much. Learn from it! Good luck!
