DE-INTERLACE PROBLEM - Captured s16mm footage?

Hi,

I have captured a Sony DVCAM and MiniDV tape of Super16mm telecine raw footage I shot for a short using Vegas and finished editing in Vegas as well. The only problem is that I cannot de-interlace the footage for some reason. I tried every project file settings and right clicking the clips and playing with all the settings and it still interlaces like crazy. I tried 29.97i, 24p, 23.98p, etc. Tried exporting in every format too. I'm using Vegas 7c.

What did I do wrong? Was it in the capturing or exporting? I can't find any options to de-interlace or capture a certain way in Vegas either.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! The film has to be exported soon for a film competition and I don't want this interlaced so badly.

BTW, When I capture 24p and 24pa stuff from my DVX100A, and then de-interlace in Vegas, no problem but it's not working for this footage.

Thanks!

Norm

Don't de-interlace; de-interlacing just destroys your footage.

You're in a 24p project, yes? Import your footage to the bin, and then right-click it and choose "file format properties", and tell it to remove 2-3 pulldown. You'll probably have to go through all the potential options (0,1,2,3,4) before you find which one gives the proper cadence, but when you find it, Vegas will strip out the pulldown and give you pure progressive footage.
