Good morning.
I recently shot a little footage of my daughter in 24p. I captured it into a 29.97 time line in FCP. Upon playback in the Canvas I noticed what I assume to be interlace lines in her movement. I applied a de-interlace filter and the lines disappeared.
My question is: Does FCP not automatically de-interlace 24p footage when it captures it? Even more fundamentally, should FCP have to de-interlace it since it's not interlaced in the first place?
Why would you even see interlaced lines in progressive footage? Is this because of the 29.97 time line?
When I de-interlaced I chose the upper (odd) fields. Does it matter- upper or lower- when using this filter for 24p footage?
Cheers,
John
