DCP workflow, looking for advice

Hey!

One of the local film councils requested that the final output be a DCP compliant format, however, I'm not entirely sure how to go about doing that exactly...

I've read about the OpenDCP and downloaded it but it seems a little daunting it being the first time I've encountered this. So not wanting to screw up and being pressed for time, how do you exactly go about this? Are there other softwares available that can do this?

Thanks in advance!

Found one from http://dcinemaforum.com/forum/index.php?topic=109.msg1051#msg1051

Guess I'll have a go with this and see how it turns out if I can view it at all =b

There are other solutions out there such as:

Qube Cinema Xpress 2 (windows) for $799. http://qubecinema.com/products/Xpress2

Resolve 10 will output an encoded J2K in XYZ color space, but you still need to author it into a DCDM package. Frauenhofer EasyDCP is another consideration for Mac or Windows: http://www.easydcp.com/product.php?id=1
That one is around $2800 but also offers a playback of DCP to ensure it is properly created. There is also FinalDCP: http://www.magnamana.com/products/finaldcp/

I found this here (don't get confused by the name, it actually does DCPs) http://carlh.net/software/dvdomatic/ verry easy to use, and it's fee.

For 'free' software, there's also: http://www.opendcp.org.

Unfortunately I don't have a DCP compliant 'presentation environment', so I don't have the ability to test the output as to actual playability on any official DCP system...

Too bad there isn't an 'interop' sort of conclave that could allow content producers to have flyoffs of their packages or the software vendors (free or commercial) to show their abilities...
