DC Power

My question about 7.9v input on the dvx. what is the official power supply for this port? also i was reading in the forums about using a 12v supply with a resistor to get the voltage down. does anyone have experience with this and can tell me what resistor rating is needed to do this.

thanks.

Bescor sells a ready-made plate that plugs into a cigarette lighter socket, and lets you power the DVX from a battery belt or other cigarette-lighter power supply. I think it goes for about $39 at B&H.

I know that's not what you asked, but I figure it's related and might help.

Do NOT plug the DVX (or any other Panasonic camera for that matter) into something else than dedicated power supplies/adapters. It turns to smoke presto, and even if it's easy /relatively cheap to fix, it will take your camera away for few days... 7.9V is what it needs and that's it (BTW, the fix will be more expensive than the $39 at B&H...)

Gabriel, do you have any experience with that Bescor device? It uses a DVX-style battery plate, and says it was specifically engineered for the DVX, so it seems like it should be safe...

Barry, I've never seen it, but I don't see why it wouldn't work. I would go for it if I would need to power my camera from the car battery.

I have that Bescor adapter from B&H and I use it with a 12volt NRG Field Pro belt. It works great! I get about 20 hours of shooting from it. (If you go the belt route you have to order the belt with 1 cig plug and one XLR then you can use anything with it)
