Daylite Adjustment Question

Hello All,

I am thinking about purchasing an Arri kit. If I wanted to adjust to daylight 5600k, what would be the best way to do it. The intent would be to be able to use the Arri for outdoor fill. Would it be effective knowing that daylight varies quite a bit? Would gel filters in the scrim holders work ok, or would a Arri dichroic filter like the 571154 be better? Is there a better option?

Thanks in advance

You can use full CTB on a 3200k to get to a 5600k balance, but the cost in light output is considerable. Have you considered HMIs? They are really the only thing that is going to be of much use for daytime exteriors.

Khmuse is right, HMIs are what's used for exteriors.

If you can't swing it, then go for mirrors or bounce the sun.

On a bright day a 1k tungsten light will give nothing, even it's only a few feet away from the subject.

Biggest light on my personal kit is a 2k. Yet for exteriors I rely on bounce or rent HMIs.
