Day for Night

Im trying to film a scene that's paying homage to eyes wide shut : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0iTwPtQPR24

And we want to recreate the stylistic blue light coming from the windows.

We will be shooting throughout the day and so we are going tent the windows with tarp. The tarp is 20x20 and the size of the tarp limits how far we can place the 575 hmi without the light hitting the tarp.

The furthest we can place the hmi away from the window is 5-6 feet.

The window is 10 feet wide and 6 feet high and the bottom of the window is 4 feet off the ground.

There are shots where the window will be in the shot. I don't want the window to act as a source of light, but rather just as a background light.

Question: What is the best way of rigging the light so that you don't see the outline of the light fixture, don't get hotspots and so that you light the entire 10x6 window evenly when the 575 hmi is 5-6 feet away from the window?

Most likely a 575 HMI will not cover a 10'x6' window with only a 5'-6' throw, even when placed to the side and angled at a similar angle as in the effect demo video. Even if it can cover the window you'll have to scrim it selectively to achieve a smooth light.
The 20'x20' tarp most likely won't be sufficient to totally tent the 10'x6' window with enough breadth and depth to accomodate the HMI. You will need enough tarp to do this (probably a couple 20'x20's) tightly seamed and hung from batons and held up by c-stands. . .or whatever.
Diffusion of the sheer curtain used in the video will help in blocking any outside equipment (that should be black-wraped) that might otherwise be seen.
You will also need to gel the HMI to give you the deep blue effect.
Good luck.
