Day 1 on my feature film (consumer camera)

its a very good example of a first film. the cuts are spaced well, the actors are decent and you have an basic understanding of how a simple scene should look. i'm amazed you would even consider using a camera like that for a film, so what really matters here is your ambition. keep working at it, because moviemaking is just hard as f u c k.
shoot, finish, learn. then shoot another.

Yeh that's the thing. I really want to keep going, but I really never have time especially when school comes. I don't want to tell you my list of things to do. But my hip-hop group is number one right now. We've been working on this for like 4 years and in the process of recording our first album. And another thing...many of you said that I am quitting. Who said about quitting. Really...this is just the beginning. Because I will be planning more and more during the school year (my most important year). I will try to cast better actors. Everything was rushed on this one. As much as I don't want to quit I have to. I get stressed just filming, imagine when school starts and everything else.

I will be shooting small stuff though. This movie really isn't a short. This is probably going to be 45-an hour movie. So...I didn't quit on it. I wouldn't waste this script and all the equipment I got. So, I will let you know how it goes along the way. Peace!

So, I will let you know how it goes along the way.

Please don't. If you want feedback on a completed film that's one thing, but using this thread as a diary of everyday mundane details would be inappropriate and annoying.

alright, I understand. I will just come back when I need help or whatever. After reading books.

Oh yeah...can you guys please list several books or maybe good videos (to learn). Like on directing, acting, cinematography, framing, editing, all that good stuff. Let me know. Thanks!

What for? You're a rapper now. Why would you want to spend time reading film books?

...or you could use the search feature.

No the truth is, I've been a rapper for like 5 years. Come on guys. I have to read books so I might as well read something useful.

books on directing are about as useless as books about dating your mom...

perhaps I am wrong here.. but reading a book to tell me "how" to direct is a waste of time... a book cannot teach you how to interact with people... and how to have a vision..

i say concentrate on one thing at a time... sounds like your hip-hop group is priority anyways..

and I agree with the previosu sentiments.. which coincidently I also said in the first reply of this thread.... complete a film first then ask for feedback.. mundane was a good word to describe what is happening in this thread.

I don't think it matters what order these topics are learned... to a rapper.

When it comes to production techniques, I don't feel you have to learn any one subject in it's entirety before including another subject. I know I learned about composition, sequencing, and lighting within the same time span. However, I'm still learning and applying different techniques (or variations thereof) even after 18 years. So, in that sense, I don't walk around as though I know everything - even though I like to think I do. :)

TheYankee hovers on the edge of what will be his favorite post number. Make it a good one. Alas, you can never go back. :)

Something I've noticed... and maybe it's just me... But Lucky doesn't seem to like to do much on his own. He wants people to provide him with answers rather than search. he wants people to critique his technique, and then he wants to quit.

Here is my advice... Make sure your flows rhyme.

Doin a film...
Film is bad...
