David Fincher's Zodiac

It came to mind just a few minutes ago, now when I watch the video I recognize the scenes they are cutting and everything.

I wish they had a longer version of this, it's interesting to hear Fincher talk about this film and how technology has shaped his films.

For a film that was about 2 1/2 hours in its theatrical release, I really wonder how the editing process went with this film using Final Cut. Those short 3 minutes don't tell that much.

1999 was insane, starting with a swift kick from The Matrix, a left to the head with American Beauty and the knockout blow with Fight Club. That was an interesting summer for me and by the time Fight Club came out I had insomnia for a couple months. I would regularly go 72+ hours without a minute's sleep - With insomnia, nothing's real. Everything is far away. Everything is a copy of a copy of a copy. - so the movie was somewhat surreal at the time. It has only gotten better now that I sleep.

I didnt know who Fincher was before that. Then it turned out that much of what was good was Fincher. The only good Stones video - Fincher. (I'm not a Stones fan.) Se7en - Fincher. The Game - Fincher. I couldnt wait until his next... and he gave us Panic Room. Errg. Then Zodiac. Errrrg. If I still had insomnia, Zodiac would have cured it.

His genius cant be denied. Se7en. The Game. Fight Club. Commercial. Videos. I'm just wondering where it's hiding. I have high hopes for Benjamin Button and Rama.

Worst of all, I just read he was responsible for the creepy Orville DEADinbacher commercial.

And too be fair, I need to see Zodiac again before I really have a fair opinion. On first viewing, I was much less than impressed.

im not going to try and defend the opinion, but honestly, I've always really liked Panic Room :)

and even if he never tops Seven, everything he's made has been top class. Making one masterpiece in ur lifetime is nothing to be ashamed of.
