Data Recovery Software...

Does anyone know if this is a good product? It's Apple's Data Rescue II. The Apple Store wouldn't tell me anything about and want me to bring in my Mac Pro to the store. If I can buy a program for $100, I'd rather do that.

My drive appears dead, by the way. It won't show up in Finder, or Disk Utility. Will this software still work?

I've heard people of using a Live Linux CD to boot into the system and then do image copy of the needed files over to some other drives. Its one option and its free.
