damn rainbow wheel!!!!!!!!!!

Working on an edit and that freaking wheel with the rainbow colors comes up on me and FCP isn't responding now. Why does it do this? I'm stuck now and don't want to force kill and re-edit my work so what should I do?
 
Pray that it stops...gotta love the spinning beach ball. I like to keep the autosave on for FCP so that if something does it the fan I'm partly covered.
 
Wait it out - it might go away.
The only other advice I can give you is learn to hit save as often as you can.

yeah, i waited once before for about 30 hrs but just killed it. as for this time, i killed it again. oh well. i was saving as i went on but this one scene was a pain to work. i'm redoing it now. lol
 
You've should really try to move up to FCP5 when you get the chance
(I think you mentioned last time you were on 4.5)

I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of the issues you're having are bugs from running 4.5 on Tiger
(which I think you also said you were on).

silver, yep, you... Were starting @ 9am and I hope wrapping up at 4 or 5pm. It's in garwood, NJ. Check out how far it is and let me know.

I checked the mileage and it's about 3 hours or so to new jersey.
I have a class at 9 on Saturday but my Professor is very cool and lets me go to his class at another time that week If I can't make mine
 
I had this same problem. I found if you recaptured your footage (which blows dogs for quarters) it stops doing it. Mine did it every time i tried to play through to clips to see how the edit looked. Yours might be a different scenerio.

What's your setup (version of FCP and version of OS)?
Just curious.
 
4.5 and i said it the wrong way. It didnt happen every time. Just with certain clips. Something must have happened when I captured them the first time
