Damaged ME66?

I just spent $355 for an ME66 combo off ebay. Just got it today and I noticed it has a good 1/8th inch dent on the front. It was not mentioned in the auction. Should I be concerned about this? My friend made the point that I should maybe be more worried about how the dent got there rather than the dent itself. It must have hit or dropped.

Do you think it could have damaged the mic? I hooked it up and it seems to work and sound ok. But should I really have to pay for a damaged product?

Here's a pic:

Of course it's supposed to be flat not dented in. And it's more bent than the picture looks.

You mght want to double check the pics, if there were any, on the auction listing. Contact the seller, and see what he has to say. He may assert that it got damaged during shipping, and suggest you use the insurance to cover it...or whatever.

Who knows how that happened, and what internal implications it means. Your mic may sound okay today, but did you bid for a dented, probaby dropped mic that could have internal problems which could manifest themselves in a day or a week or a month....?

Alot of people on here don't hold that mic too highly in regard to begin with, so I really feel bad for you having received it damaged and not as described.

If it works fine I wouldn't worry about it. The mic capsule is actually at the end of the tube so it probably wasn't directly damaged by whatever bent the cage (actor's head?).

(I do think you paid too much for it, new or used ;-) )

Good luck
