Dalton.  Timothy Dalton.

I *really* don't understand why he's universally reviled as the weakest Bond. He's spot-on with Fleming's character.

And "The Living Daylights" is the best Bond movie of the '80s.

Just don't get it, I don't.

Re: Dalton.  Timothy Dalton.

I like Timothy Dalton. I regard Roger Moore as the worst Bond.

Re: Dalton.  Timothy Dalton.

Re: Dalton.  Timothy Dalton.

I thought Dalton was more truer to the Bond franchise than any of them. He is the badass of the Bonds.

Re: Dalton.  Timothy Dalton.

Re: Dalton.  Timothy Dalton.

The best has to be Conory though. Brosnan was doing okay for a while there, but he lost it. So did the filmmakers. That last one was just crap

Re: Dalton.  Timothy Dalton.

Re: Dalton.  Timothy Dalton.

What they should do with the Bond franchise is take it back to the 50s/60s. Good Cold War spy stories.

Re: Dalton.  Timothy Dalton.

Oooohhh.

I like that David. Give us an almost Period Piece Bond film in the 50's. Hell, I'd like to see Bond from the very beginning. Show him in the SAS and in traning and into his very fiorst mission.

That what Im talking about.

Re: Dalton.  Timothy Dalton.

Re: Dalton.  Timothy Dalton.

They were talking about doing that in the '80s. I'd like to see it, too. Take him through WWII and into the Cold War at large.

Re: Dalton.  Timothy Dalton.

Re: Dalton.  Timothy Dalton.

That would be great.  Would the audinece buy into it?  Picture the 23rd Bond Film being what we are talking about and then the 24th being set in 2008 :p

Still, I love that idea.

The probelm with where the Bond franchise has headed is too much over-the-top.  These films are becoming so improbable and ridiculous.  I just want (as with all my wfilms) for the filmmakers to take it seriously.

I want beautiful women, exotic locales, fancy gadetry and great action but please take it seriously.

Another thing that gets me is MGM. Apparently they do not allow any of the 'Bond' Fan Sites/Tribute Sites to use pictures or likenesses or audio or video. No Fan Films allowed either.

I think that is so weak on MGM's part.

Re: Dalton.  Timothy Dalton.

Seeing Bond recruited and trained would make such an awesome flick. Act 3 could be his first mission, last line of the movie (while he's laying in bed with his first seduced woman) "This job suits me, think I'll try it for a while."

da da da da da

Re: Dalton.  Timothy Dalton.

I think the bigger problem is the world's change.  There's no longer a Soviet empire opposing the West, and there ARE really megalomaniac multi-millionaires with fiendish plots to destroy cities (or at least to drive airplanes into skyscrapers).  Over-the-top?  Probably, but especially in the last movie, I couldn't help but think "that's nice, James; but how about bagging Osama?"

(Totally aside from the fact that Bond spent 40 years getting out of the most elaborate traps wihout wrinkling his suit, but these backwater rubes in North Korea -- watch out!  They've got manacles!  They can hold Bond for a year and a half!  But I digress.)

M said it in GoldenEye, and I think she was right -- Bond IS kind of a Cold War relic.  So maybe that's where he should stay.

Re: Dalton.  Timothy Dalton.

For sure.

I thought the last Bond was going in the right direction up untill half way through. The opening was very rugged and intense - *that* is what I'd like to see. The end with the laser beams and all that jazz is really what ruined it. I think that was why it dissapointed me even more - I was set up for something great and ended with something mediocre

Re: Dalton.  Timothy Dalton.

Re: Dalton.  Timothy Dalton.

I've always had a cool idea about a movie that EXPLAINS the changing of the Bond characters:

Basically, "Bond" is just an identity that any current 007 agent happens to have. Every time the agent dies/retires, a new one is drafted in to take his place.

You could open the film with Pierce Brosnan trying to infiltrate some terrorist/whatever and getting killed. Then a new Bond is brought in to ‘finish’ the job or something…

The trailer would open with Dame Judy Dench saying: “From this day forward, you will be known as Bond. James Bond…”

That sounds exactly like the DVXuser screen grabs and clips section. :P

No **** !
They need to Upgrade "Bond" in the same way (if not alot stronger) that they upgraded "Batman" to "The Dark Knight" in the comic books.

Bond should be a Bad Ass, Cool-Headed, more mature version of Jason Bourne.

Truthfully I like all of the Bonds as I feel they all bring something to the table.

I have to agree with Bop that Bond should be a bad, ruthless dude.

Re: Dalton.  Timothy Dalton.

I too liked Dalton. I think he had the anger that many of the others lacked. I still think Connery is #1. Brosnan is doing a good job. I thought Roger Moore start well, but in the end he looked like he couldn't take a punch. I'll say this, storywise I liked "Her Majestiy's Secret Service" because Bond found love and lost love.

The problem with Bond is it's become a formula with little to no surprises, but much of the audience doesn't care. Give them hot babes, cool gadgets and things blowin' up and they're happy. All good things, but when used in the same way every film they get boring.

You guys should pitch the "Young James Bond" as a series.

Did they ever say who James Bond Jr's mother was in that show? :o That's a lot a women to get DNA from(that's what Bond said--and did! ;D)
