D7000 with 3.5 mm steareo plug. Can you connect two mics with a adapter.

I was wondering since the d7000 has a steareo input you should be able to use two external mics, such as one wireless and a shotgun together?I have looked, but there seems to be little information on this camera. I have only seen mention of using a steareo mic.
 
You might run into crosstalk issues here, depending on how the D7000 handles the stereo signals. You'd need to test it thoroughly.
 
Stereo microphone IS two microphones. So certainly you can connect two (different) microphones to a 3.5mm stereo plug without problems. There could/will be problems with powering, balance etc which are best taken care by a mixer or Beachtek etc box. But in principal all you need is a 2 XLR-F to 3.5mm stereo plug Y-cable.
