hey ive recently decided to buy a Nikon D50, im not sure what i should get, should i go for the one with the 18-55mm kit lense or buy a different one? Another problem i have is that i dont undertsand what lenses works with this camera, for example i know it uses a F-mount and i have read that "all Nikor lenses work with this camera". Then i read about the "AF-S DX Nikkor18-200mm", am i right in guessing that the AF-S DX is a variation of the Nikor lense. If anyone could explain this to me i would be very happy as i am new to photography.

Thankyou

All nikon Dslrs can use all nikon lenses, for now. The difference between a standard lens and a DX lens is that the DX lenses will only work with Dslrs with an APS sized sensor. So yes, you can use all lenses, however in the future, if these DX lenses will be compatible depends on if Nikon ever decides to realeas a full frame camera. The DX lenses will not work on nikon film cameras. As to the lens you should buy, what do you plan on shooting?

ahh i see, generally ill be shooting everything and anything but aiming towards nature/landscape. I may also be shooting indoor live music so any reccomendations would be helpful, i will have a small budget so some of the "cheaper" options would be nice. I have been looking at the Nikon 50 mm f/1.8D AF Nikkor as it is fairly cheap and have read good things about it.
thankyou
