I received some uncompressed AVI files that are 720x486 in size. Windows explorer properties recognizes them as 1536kbps

When I try to play them in WMP or VLC player that don't work. VLC doesn't play it at all the WMP says acquiring codec and then plays them with only sound. Meanwhile Vegas 5 won't edit them and After Effects 6 Pro gives me an error that says "no such AVI compressor".

So how do I work with these? I thought After Effects Pro would be able to work with any standard definition footage.

Sounds like you probably need a codec to be able to view the files. Then AE will probably be able to read them.

Yeah it's a v210 codec and I have one installed but I'm still getting the error for AE. WMP will play the video now however.
