D tap and P tap question

Sorry for the dumb question but here goes:
D P.jpg
I have a D/P tap to 2.1mm cable (pic 3) that I want to use with a V mount plate (pic1) and AB mount plate (pic2). The cable plugs into both, however it is very tight going into pic2 (AB)
Is this ok as long as the + goes to + and the - to -?
I thought D/P taps were close to the same thing.

As long as it's going in the correct way, it's okay.

Some cables and ports (usually a battery and cable not made by the same company) may slightly vary in size and produce a tight fit.

There were times where I used a random cable with a random battery and had to stop for a second and see if I was connecting it correctly because it seemed there was no way it was going to fit.

Eventually the port will expand over time (or the cable's end will contract a bit) if the cable stays plugged in.

D-tap and P-tap are the same thing, just depends on who is calling it what. Anton Bauer created the P-tap(power tap), but some call it D-tap, because it's shaped like a "D".

Pic two just looks like a poorly manufactured plate. Is it an actual Anton Bauer plate or just a generic?

Thank you, NorBro and Run&Gun

Both plates are GyroVu brand; just one is for Vmount and the other for Gold Mount. I want to use them to power my remote pan/tilt head out in the field. And I want V-mount and Gold mount so I have both just in case.

Ok. Was just curious. The V-mount plate p-tap looks well made. The Gold mount p-tap looks poorly made. Two sides of the "cutout" don't look parallel and the clearances look non-uniform. Seems weird, since they're both the same brand. But the real A/B plate that I have on my F55 has one P-tap that is a lot tighter than the other two on it...

I guess the tolerances just vary in manufacturing then since even your real A/B varies too
