Cutting one sequence into another

I've used Avid for a long time and something that is quite common is cutting one sequence into another. My question is, when I do this in FCP it nests the sequence I cut in. How do I do this without nesting the sequence into the timeline. Is there a way besides just copy and pasting?

I dont understand, you want two sequences to combine into one, without dropping in a timeline. Whats wrong with dropping in a timeline? Do both sequences have the same settings?

No, what i mean is how after you cut in a sequence into another and it becomes a nested clip.(one clip)

In the new time line it basically shows up as an individual clip instead of showing all the clips edits cut together on the tracks in the new sequence.(like your original sequence) I don't like having to have to double click on that clip taking you back to the original sequence to make changes to that edit.

How do you make it so that if you were to cut one sequence into another it shows all the edits in the nested clip but in the new timeline. I think Avid editors who use FCP will understand what I'm talking about.

AFAIK, Final Cut won't show you edits in nested sequences. If you want to edit your nested sequences, you have to open them up in a new tab and edit them that way. This gets tricky if you want to crossfade in and out of a nested sequence or something like that - at that point, copy/paste might be your best option.

I understand you're looking for an "official" way to do this but "Copy/Paste" is about as simple as anything gets.

Open the sequence Timeline you want to move. Open the sequence Timeline you want to put it into. Go back to the 1st seq. hit "Command+A" to select All. then "Command+C to copy all the clips. Choose the sequence Timeline to edit into. Put the playhead where you want the other edited sequence to go and hit "Shift+V" to insert or "Command+V" to overwrite. The whole process takes about 4 seconds to complete.
