Cutting and Pasting between AE and Premiere

I was wondering... when I cut and paste from Premiere's timeline to After Effects's timeline, it pastes it into After Effects as a comp and also the IN and OUT points are wrong. Is there a setting I'm screwing up somewhere? I don't have Dynamic Link b/c I didn't buy the suite.

dont copy the timline from your project bin. instead, just highlight everything on your PPRO timeline, and copy it (using the multitrack select tool is great for this) then just paste into AE. you should get each clip as a seperate layer in AE with it effects and all still intact.
