customized lenses for redrock M2

Hi Guys,

I'm new to this forum, actually this is my first thread.
I've roughly searched through this forum but didn't found an answer to my question, but if ther is a comparable thread just let me know.

I've just purchased the Redrock M2 adapter with the follow focus. Now I'm searching for customized lenses to use with the M2 (shooting with HV200). There are offers from Redrock for customized Zeiss lenses, but I'd like to know if there are other companies who do that, especially in Europe (lower costs for import, I'm from Germany).

Can anyone tell me something?

Thanks in advance

Dimitriel

Thanks a lot Huv Vu. Yes I meant modifying the (SLR) lens for cinematic use. (For example changing the focus ring and so on.)
rplens seems to be quite pro but waaaay to expensive. And the real problem: I was searching for companies in europe who do that to spare the expensive shipping costs and taxes (I know it maybe sounds ridiculous, but taxes are damn expensive).
Redrock has a cool offer for Zeiss Planar / Distagon lenses.
But I've hoped to find an alternative in Europe. Guess I was wrong.

Thanks anyway

The Zeiss lenses that Redrock sells are not actually customized... They just have Redrock microLensGears on them. You can use any lens you want for the mount you purchased, and order the lens gears which fit over the focus ring. No need to search for anything like what rplens.com does unless you want the aperture ring modified, lens gears permanently attached, etc.

I did a little research again and yes you are right. Only the fixed microLensGears. And most of the examples of customer rigs or videos use also just an SLR Lens. I maybe overestimated the importance of these modifications.
I am searching now for Nikon Nokkor lenses with MF. (Already found a good 50mm / 1.2)
But I have 2 more questions that bother me:

1) When you have an AF Lens where you can switch between AF and MF, is it usable for the Redrock + Follow Focus??

2) What about Zoom lenses? My buddy has a Tamron Zoom and if I pass on the follow focus, can I use it for the redrock M2? Or will there be Problems (with the flange back f.e.)??

Hope I'm not a pain in the neck with all that newby questions :-)

Thanks again

As long as the lens can be focused manually, it will work. Zoom lens can work as long as they are designed to cover the whole frame, but unless it's a really expensive zoom, the aperture will change as you zoom in and it's not going to be very sharp.

Okay, I could live with the change of aperture but the loss of sharpness is a real problem.
to the AF lenses: I went to a photo shop and I think I have the answer. There are lenses where you can adjust the focus on the same ring when switched to MF (ergo usable for me). But there are also lenses where you have to adjust the focus with another ring at the front of the lens (that won't work)

Thanks guys
