Custom Layout

Hi David,
I just saw your tutorial on 24p capture. I was not aware it was so easy to edit 24p.
I noticed the layout in your 2 monitor set up. I also use 2 monitors. Can you describe how you customized the layout? I can't tell what's where, but I'd like to duplicate it, if you don't mind.
Thanks.

By no means do I claim this is the best layout.

It's just one which works for me, and it kind of evolves over time.

Wow

I need to get me the 2 Monitor hookup but I have to say it all looks like such a waste of Space. So many areas of Vegas that are opened when it seems uneccasary

Trust me, there is never enough space. I was actually just thinking about getting a third monitor.

For me, it's about having my tools on one screen and my timeline/preview on the other. I'm planning to get two 20" widescreen monitors to replace my CRTs.

Having your pan/crop tool on a different screen from your preview is invaluable, especially if you're doing a bezier mask. For detailed work, SIZE DOES MATTER.

Having a second screen means you can blow up an editor box as big as you want and still see your preview. And, you can have several editors open at once with no problem.

Scharky:
What is the audio monitor next to the pan/crop screen?
I would be fun to see more custom layouts.

That is the trimmer. It's just showing audio because I was just adjusting an audio clip, no video.

I agree with david, normally I will have my pan/crop tool doced, but when doing more intesive things, it is definitly nice to have more room, to blow it up on both screens. Right now I have a 19" CRT, and a 20" widescreen LCD. Just that little extra space that the widescreen gives is really a godsend.
